NO SMOKE Systems
Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., a subsidiary of REV Group, provided the Birmingham Fire & Rescue of Alabama with 12 new truck units, each equipped with NO SMOKE systems. The custom built apparatus included nine Ferrara Igniter LFD cabs, two Ferrara Igniter MVPs with XMFD cabs, and one Ferrara Inferno cab 77’, all equipped with Ward Diesel NO SMOKE filter systems installed in each custom truck build.
Fire Chief of Birmingham Fire & Rescue, Cory D. Moon’s priority is improving safety for citizens and firefighters alike at the fire station and on-scene of a fire. These new and updated units will replace Birmingham’s previous apparatus as part of their apparatus replacement plan. These new units also help the fire department remain compliant with NFPA 1901 safety standards.
“The fire industry is so heavily promoting taking responsibility and action to further mitigate exposures throughout the entire workday of Fire and EMS Personnel,” Said Scott Beecher, Ward Diesel Filter Systems President/Owner. “Having a direct source vehicle mounted solution will absolutely carry that protection with them further limiting exhaust exposure on any operations around the apparatus.”
Ward Diesel’s NO SMOKE 2 Filter System is mounted directly on the apparatus to automatically filter harmful exhaust particulates when the truck engine is turned on.
